ISLAMABAD – Jamiat Ulem-e-Islam-F chief Fazlur Rehman has called on Pakistan Muslim League-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and also former Jamaat-e-Islami chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed separately, after quitting the PPP-led coalition government at centre, private news channels reported on Wednesday.
Fazl met both the leaders on the sideline of a conference entitled Tahafuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat. During his meeting with Qazi Hussain, the JUI-F chief discussed reactivation of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, a coalition between religious-political parties, a channel reported.
On Tuesday, the JUI-F announced that his party was parting ways with the PPP-led coalition government at the centre following the sacking of Minister for Science and Technology Azam Khan Swati.
ANP backs govt decision
Speaking to reporters in Islamabad, Awami National Party spokesman Senator Zahid Khan said that his party would not pull out of the PPP-led coalition government. He backed sacking of federal ministers on charges of corruption, saying that such decision would increase public trust on the government.
