ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday reiterated the PPP-led government’s resolve to continue pursuing the socio-economic reforms-agenda to deliver on the promises made to the people and to give an economically stable, prosperous and peaceful Pakistan to the coming generations.
Addressing a meeting with PPP MPAs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) at the presidency, Zardari said despite challenges and hurdles, the government had waded through difficulties successfully and achieved significant achievements on political and economic fronts, as well as in the fight against militancy.
A party source said the meeting was convened to take party MPAs on board on the controversial reformed general sales tax.
Flanked by Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti, President Zardari said the government was determined to undertake vigorous steps to tackle the task of rehabilitation and reconstruction of flood victims and creating economic and employment opportunities for them.
The president praised the sacrifices rendered by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA in the fight against terrorism, saying the fight would continue until the eradication of the menace from the region.
The president also sought views of the party parliamentarians on any issue they considered crucial. The Party parliamentarian spoke on a host of issues, including the current political situation, fight against militancy and matters relating to their constituencies.
