The three people involved in attacking PU Hostel number 15 Superintendent Muhammad Sardar’s house were identified as Hafiz Ahsan and Hafiz Wajid belonging to the Hailey College while Hafiz Rafique belonged to the College of Banking and Finance.
According to the PU administration, another culprit involved in the attack was IJT Nazim Maulvi Ghulam Rasool from the Institute of Education and Research. Families of teachers living at the PU were concerned at the situation, as around 50 IJT hooligans had attacked Sardar’s house at night. It was not for the first time that IJT activists had attacked PU employees’ houses.
Sardar told Pakistan Today that he was facing life threats and IJT activists had become his enemies. He said that his whole family was worried but no FIR was registered against the IJT hooligans. The hostel superintendent said that the issue aggregated when he did not allow IJT activists to reside in hostels and refused to fulfill their demands. According to sources at the Muslim Town Police Station, a FIR was not registered against the IJT activists but they refused to disclose the reasons.
A PU professor, seeking anonymity, said that it was tragic that Hafiz-e-Quran were involved in attacking a teacher’s house. He said that the IJT wanted to fulfill their so-called agenda on Islam’s name but Islam did not preach manhandling teachers. The professor urged the Punjab CM to take notice of the issue and order a search operation at PU hostels, as IJT extremists were present there and beating teachers.
