ISLAMABAD: The crucial visit of the three-member Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team probing the Hajj accommodation scam had been put off for a day due to a delay in the issuance of visas and now it will proceed to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia today (Tuesday).
According to an agency official, the team comprising FIA Director Hassan Asghar, FIA Deputy Director Khalid Rasool and FIA Inspector Main Sabir would collect evidence from the crime scene in Jeddah, where investigators would also meet Saudi organisers, Pakistani embassy officials and the pilgrims concerned. The team will remain in Saudi Arabia until the investigation has been completed, the official added.
In order to cover all possible angles of the case, he said, the FIA team would interview the agents through whom the hiring committee made accommodation arrangements for Pakistani pilgrims. The hiring committee allegedly violated rules and regulations by making accommodation arrangements through agents instead of the owners.
