DCO clears way for Muharram processions

OKARA – Okara DCO Babar Shafi, on the directions of Commissioner Tariq Mehmood Khan, cleared the Moharram processions’ way of hand carts and illegal encroachments. DCO has directed to keep the markets and roads free of all such hand carts during Moharram processions.
The hand carts owners held a protest against this order and demanded Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to take action against it. The employees of Tehsil Municipal Administration, on Monday night, under the leadership of DDO Revnue Shahid Imran and Zaheer Ali removed all the encroachments, carts, the counters in front of the shops etc, from the markets, including Goal Chowk, lying on the procession’s routes.
Hundreds of carts and the counter holders protested against this move. TMO Fiaz Ahmad Zafar told the press that this action had been taken on the orders of the Commissioner Tariq Mehmood Khan and DCO Babar Shafi, to ensure a peaceful Moharram. He said counter holders have been instructed not bring their illegal articles in the markets and the cart holders should take their carts to their homes in the night as no negligence in this regard will be tolerated.
MAN TORTURED FOR REGISTERING CASE: Four men tortured and looted a young man for registering a case against them. Ghulam Murtaza, resident of Chah Meeran, had submitted an application for registration of a case against Waheed Ahmad, Saeed Ahmad and Habib Ahmad, sons of Noor Ahmad, residents of the same village.
The case’s registration enraged the accused and they stopped him near the local graveyard on gun point. The accused attacked the young man with sticks and looted his mobile phone and Rs 40,000. The villagers gathered but the accused fled.
BROTHER IN-LAW ATTACKED: Men attacked their sister’s husband over a domestic dispute. Sageer Amad Joyia, resident of Shahpur Tehsil Depalpur, was married in a marriage exchange. Since the last month there was a recurring dispute between the spouses due to which his wife had gone to her parents in Hujra Shah Muqeeem.
Sageer’s brother in law Rashid telephoned to him and asked him to come to Hujra Shah Muqeem so that the dispute could be solved. When Sageer reached Hujra Shah Muqeem his brothers in-laws Rashid and Asif attacked him with iron rods and injured him. Police Station Hujra Shah Muqeem has registered the case against his brothers in-law and have started to probe in the matter.
