DHAKA: Two busts of Khan, made by two impoverished Bangladeshi brothers, were meant to be auctioned to fund their education. But the brothers were left high and dry.
Shah Rukh was in Dhaka to perform in front of a live audience on December 10. Apart from winning hearts and more fans in Bangladesh, Khan took home two handmade sculptures of his face as gifts. These were supposed to be auctioned to collect money for the poor boys who made them.
It turns out that SRK was not informed of this so-called auction and instead took both the sculptures with him as a gift! The event organizer also did not pay anything to the boys either. When contacted, Shapan Chowdhury, the chairman of the event management firm in Dhaka, said, “Yes, both the sculptures were made by Shusen and Shamon and were supposed to be auctioned but due to time constraint we could not do carry out the auction. The sculptures now have been gifted.”
He clarified, “We couldn’t give Shah Rukh the details. But now, we will give some amount of money to the boys.”
