PUASA demands action against IJT activists

LAHORE: The Punjab University Academic Staff Association (PUASA), which met here on Monday under the chairmanship of its President Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed Akhtar in varsity Executive Club, demanded the varsity administration to undertake strict disciplinary action against Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) activists.
The association also expressed its solidarity with Superintendent Hostel No. 15 Sardar Asghar Iqbal, with whom the IJT activists had recently misbehaved. PUASA also demanded an FIR to be registered against the students who had been hurling life threats to Sardar Asghar Iqbal.
In another resolution, unanimously passed in the meeting, the participants vehemently condemned the incident in which a former IER clerk had used abusive language with Education Dean Prof Dr Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal. PUASA General Secretary also announced that the elections for the new president and office-bearers of the association would be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011.
