Owais Leghari accuses PML-N of pre-poll rigging in NA-172

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League’s candidate for by-polls in NA-172, Owais Leghari, on Sunday accused the PML-N of committing pre-polls rigging and using the Punjab government machinery in the by-election.
Addressing a press conference at the PML House, Owais Legahri, son of Farooq Leghari who is contesting polls on the seat that fell vacant due to his father’s death said the Punjab government had got the by-election postponed due to fear of PML-N candidate Hafiz Abdul Karim’s defeat. He demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan announce the new date without any delay. “PML-N has announced development funds worth Rs 2 billion in the constituency and the projects are also being awarded to its workers without inviting tenders,” he alleged.
He said the Punjab chief minister and his cabinet ministers were running the campaign of the PML-N candidate in violation of the election laws.
“We have sent six applications to the ECP but no action has been taken,” he said, adding Zulfikar Khosa and his sons were using official vehicles in the election campaign of Hafiz Karim.
He alleged the Punjab government had ordered the district administration as well as lady health visitors and health workers to work for the PML-N candidate.
