Meeting reviews Watan Card issue

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Secretary Ghulam Ali Shah Pasha and Sindh Rehabilitation Minister Haji Muzaffar Ali Shujra on Sunday jointly presided a meeting to review the task of issuing Watan Cards to the flood survivors.
In the meeting, database processing was discussed. It was decided that the vacancies of mukhtiarkars would be filled in accordance with the rules and regulations with the view to expedite the task of distributing Watan Cards to the genuine flood survivors.
It was emphasised that no negligence on part of the respective officers and staff would be excused, and strict disciplinary action would be taken against negligent personnel.
Shujra asked the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) officials and district coordination officers (DCOs) to maintain acute liaison for expeditious work. He said efficient officials would be publicly appreciated.
NADRA officials gave a presentation regarding Watan Cards and pointed out that 99,700 requests for Watan Cards were received, of which 74,484 had been processed.
Pasha asked the DCOs to enhance cooperation with NADRA with the association of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority and avoid slackness.
The meeting was also attended by the secretaries of the Home, Agriculture and Finance departments.
The additional inspector general of police and other relevant officers were also present.
