LAHORE: Saqib Khakwani and Zain Khakwani of Monnoo Polo combined well to thwart a spirited challenge from Shah Shamyl Alam in the final of the PSS Asia Cup here at the Lahore Polo Club on Sunday.
Monnoo Polo with the help of Khakwani duo smacked 10 goals and thwarted Shamyl’s spate of attacks successfully containing Silk Bank to seven goals.
In the subsidiary final, Security 2000 were too smart for Goodwill Sweets beating them by nine goals to three and-a-half.
The Khakwanis – Saqib and Zain – shared eight goals between them and one was added by Babar Monnoo.
Interestingly, every move these two brothers made, ended in a goal. On the other hand, they cunningly kept Shamyl at bay who looked threatening many times.
Saqib and Zain dominated the first chukker with four goals. In the second chukker they came up with one and Silk Bank converted two. National polo star Shamyl managed five of the seven goals from his side and played crucial role in the other two moves converted into goals by Jawad Jamil Malik and Mian Khurrum Munir.
