PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa government is firm on its resolve to establish Islamic Nizam-i-Adal (Islamic judicial system) in Malakand division and appointment of qazis (judges) are in progress in Swat and other districts.
Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar said while speaking in the provincial assembly on Friday. Barrister Javed Abbassi PML (N) MPA from Abbottabad had questioned about posting and appointment of judges in according to 2009 Nizam-i-Adal regulations.
Iftikhar said, “We are firm in our commitments as people from Malakand division has suffered a lot and they desire a judicial system of their choice, and we’ll ensure that there demands are met”.
Speaker Kiramat Ullah Khan Chagharmati had also invited Minister for Forests Wajid Ali Khan Advocate to explain the matter regarding appoint of judges (qazis) in Swat and other districts of Malakand. Wajid Ali Khan showed satisfaction over the newly introduced Nizam-i-Adal regulations in Swat.
He said newly appointed judges were being engaged in disposals of decades old pending civil and criminal cases. He was of the view that it was the vacuum created by lawlessness, which led to violence and terrorism.
He hoped the peace would return once Nizam-i-Adal regulations were in effect. Mian Iftikhar Hussain denied that the government was reluctant to implement the regulations.
