ANTWERP: The event is scheduled to take place at Wimbledon and both Belgian stars appear keen to participate after coming out of retirement to continue their careers.
Clijsters took time out to have a baby, before returning to claim the US Open title, which she then defended at Flushing Meadows earlier this year. Henin also gave up the sport only to return 18 months later but her comeback was put on hold when she picked up an elbow injury during the Wimbledon fortnight this year.
The pair have never enjoyed the closest relationship and have only once played doubles together but they appear to have patched up any differences over the past couple of years and could well form a dream team at SW19 in 18 months time.
Clijsters wants to clarify the position with Henin and she feels it could be her swansong in the professional game. “We have to get together to discuss this, see what the possibilities are and assess how far we want to go in this,” she said. “Because of my family situation, the doubles game is not something I want to get hung on too much”.
