LAHORE: Women Action Forum (WAF) strongly condemned the death threats issued by a radical cleric from Khyber-Pakhtunkhawah against Aasia Bibi. On the occasion of Human Rights Day, the WAF demanded action against the cleric concerned.
It also urged the government to take suitable measures for the protection of Aasiya Bibi from such malicious elements. The WAF said any public controversy over a law is justified in democracy, but no public debate should be aimed at risking any human life.
“Aasia’s case is in the court, but legal decisions and dispensation of justice should not be influenced by bigotry, malice and political cussedness,” the WAF concluded.
