Unity can help maintain Pakistan’s sovereignty: minister

GUJRANWALA: Provincial Minister for Food Abdul Ghafoor has said that the menace of sectarianism is over in the province due to sincere efforts of religious clerics and now it is time to eradicate the scams designed against sovereignty of the country.
He stated this while addressing a meeting held at circuit house to review security measures in Gujranwala division. The meeting was attended by religious clerics, MNAs, MPAs, DCOs and DPOs of all six districts of the division.
The minister said Pakistan was an atomic power and the Pakistanis should fight terrorism and all type of scams against the nation. He urged to maintain harmony among all sects and added that it was the responsibility of the youth as well to up route terrorism and foreign scams to destabilize the country. He reiterated that Islam is religion of peace but, unfortunately, it was labeled as religion of terrorism.
CONSTABLE ARRESTED: Additional and Sessions Judge Raja Arshad Mahmood has ordered to arrest a police constable for recording false witness. Reportedly, constable Saleem came to the court for recording statement in place of another cop and tried to run away from but the Judge ordered to arrest him.
FORMER ARTS COUNCIL DIRECTOR RELEASED: Anti Corruption Judge Abdul Majid has ordered to release former Gujranwala Arts Council Director Niaz Hussain Lakhwera against surety bonds of one hundred thousand rupees. Lakhwera was arrested by anti-corruption establishment six years ago for embezzling in official funds.
