LAHORE: The Supreme Court (SC) monitoring judge on Friday called a meeting of all presiding officers of accountability courts of Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar at the SC Building, Islamabad on December 11. Progress of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO)-related National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cases pending in accountability courts would be discussed in the meeting.
According to sources, attitude of judges having close relations with NRO beneficiaries would also be discussed in the meeting. The superior judiciary has learnt that some accountability judges have soft corners for influential politicians facing references in courts. According to sources, the SC monitoring judge had received several complaints against a Lahore accountability court presiding officer whose chamber remained open for accused and their relatives.
