LAHORE: Pakistan’s discarded opener Imran Farhat on Wednesday threatened to sue a British-based marketing agent unless he apologise for naming him in a spot-fixing scandal. “Through our London-based lawyer, Farhat has sent a legal notice to (Mazhar) Majeed asking him to prove his allegation. If he fails to do so or to apologise, then we will take further action,” Farhat’s father-in-law Mohammad Ilyas told AFP.
The 28-year-old opener, left out of Pakistan’s Twenty20 and Test squad for this month’s tour to New Zealand, was among seven players named by Majeed in a video aired by leading Pakistan channel Geo last week. “We want Majeed to clarify and prove what he has said, or at least admit that what he said was unintentional and incorrect. Otherwise we will take legal action for defamation,” said Ilyas, a former Test player and current selector.
