KARACHI: More than 300 suspects, including suspected Taliban leaders, were arrested in Manghopir, Karachi in a search operation on Tuesday, sources told Pakistan Today.
The crackdown was carried out after the Sindh government received information about possible terror attacks in Karachi during Muharram. On a tip-off, law enforcement agencies raided Manghopir and its surroundings areas.
Rangers and police personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation in Kunwari Colony. Over 100 suspects, including two key Taliban commanders were arrested in the first phase of a house-to-house search operation.
They were identified as Siddique Mehsud and Raheel Mehsud. More than 300 suspects were detained by the time the three phases of the search operation concluded.
