Jamil Fakhri – A tired man mourns

Jamil Fakhri, a veteran actor, and his family were reminded of the words Jamil had spoken only two days ago, “I don’t know if I will receive my son’s body in pieces or ashes,” when the news confirming Ali Ayaz Fakhri’s was murdered came late on Monday night from the Pakistan Embassy in the United States.
Ali’s body was recognized through Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test as it was feared that he died of burning. Various television and Lollywood stars visited Jamil Fakhri, including Qavi Khan, Irfan Khoosat, Shafqat Cheema and Abiid Butt to share the sorrow with him.
Ali Ayyaz Fakhri resided in US and was missing since February, 2009. Jamil and his wife blamed the US police and Pakistan Embassy for their negligence over the issue. While talking to the media Jamil Fakhri stated that the embassy came into action after the matter was made public. He said US Consulate not even bothered to respond to his phone calls.
He said, “The government officials consistently said that he was alive but I don’t know what happened in these few days.” Ali’s mother’s health kept deteriorating throughout the day and she was short of words.
She said, “Our government is busy in its corrupt ways. What can we expect from them?” Jamil Fakhri said Hussain Haqqani told him that he was dead and now they found the body after 22 months, when the media pressurised the government. He said Pakistani Embassy officials always said, “It is America and not Pakistan”.
He said the ‘country’, who murdered his son, can kill others in future, so people should be careful while sending their children abroad. Irfan Khosat, an actor, said Jamil was a man of character, “How can a father be satisfied by just knowing that he is dead? The government should immediately provide the details to the family.”
Another actor, Qavi Khan said that whenever he (Jamil Fakhri) used to meet him, he always discussed the tragedy of his missing son. It was only when the media created hype that the embassy broke the news of his son’s
murder, he said. Hassan Siddique
