There is no scam here: Anil

NUMBAI: Comedy is clearly the flavour of the season. In the weeks post Golmaal-3, that’s still running, many other films have fallen by the wayside. The trade estimates that at least 100 crores have been collectively lost on Guzaarish, Break Ke Baad and even the latest marquee offerings.
Naturally the bookies have now placed all their bets on Anil Kapoor Films Co. Ltd and Eros International’s No Problem, directed by Bollywood’s comedy king Anees Bazmee, that is releasing worldwide on December 10. The important issue here is that there is logic to this crazy betting scenario. The Anees-Anil combination has yielded huge box office returns in the past. Both No Entry and Welcome were super hits.
Says Anees, “Anil is instrumental in getting me to agree to do No Entry. He has a big role to play in the film’s runaway success. Likewise when I was doing Welcome he agreed to come on board without even listening to the script.
It is perhaps the only time in his career, when Anil has done this. This shows that he has implicit faith in my capabilities as a filmmaker. It is but natural that when AKFCL wanted me to direct a film for them, I would give them priority over everyone.” Anil adds, “Comedies are considered cool these days.
They yield numbers in multiplexes and single screens. But that isn’t the only reason I made one. My company has always believed in making quality products.” The actor-producer admits that his combination with Anees has gone from strength to strength. Says he, “No Problem is to a certain extent like No Entry.
In effect, it will be a pleasant surprise for people.”
Anil also feels that in terms of entertainment, Anees and he haven’t compromised anywhere. “Ours is a fully loaded film,” he says. “Normally there are a few light-hearted scenes in the first half and few in the second half. But this one has as many as many as 30 back-to-back genuinely funny scenes.”
The director steps in to add that every member of the ensemble star cast has been justified. Whether it is Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Paresh Rawal, Sushmita Sen, Kangna Ranaut, Suniel Shetty, Ranjeet or Shakti Kapoor, each of them has been given their due. An excited Anil says, “Everyone has come across very well. We’ve got our heart in the right place.
There is no scam here. It isn’t as if one person has taken the money or one guy has stolen the thunder. Whatever was available to us has been spent on the film and it shows. I truly believe that the film is the hero. If your intentions are right, the film always works.”
