JCP nominates Justice Hameed as IHC CJ

ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has prepared recommendations for the appointment of Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman as the chief justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) while Anwar Kansi and Riyaz Khan its judges, officials said.
The recommendations were drafted in a Judicial Commission of Pakistan meeting, chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, on Saturday.
Kansi belongs to Balochistan and Khan hails from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the officials, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan recommendations also included one-year extension in the services of four additional judges of the Balochistan High Court (BHC).
The names of the additional judges are Justice Tahira Safdar, Justice
Jamal Mandokhel, Justice Noor Muhammad Miskeen and Justice Mustafa Mengal.
The services of these four judges had ended on September 5 but they continued working on the directions of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The recommendations now will be sent to parliamentary committee for appointment of the judges for approval.
