LAHORE: PML-Q shall resist the Reformed General Sales tax (RGST) in the Punjab Assembly, with a showdown to be expected in both the provincial and the National Assembly, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, former Punjab chief minister and senior Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leader declared.
Punjab Assembly Parliamentary Committee meeting held on Friday at his residence. Elahi said that the “donkey pump” chief minister was duping the poor public once again on the RGST matter. He promised to stand by the public against the draconian levy.
Speaking to a gathering of PML-Q provincial legislators, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said that the incumbent Punjab government was without vision and thus its days were numbered. He said that the day PPP withdrew its support the self proclaimed Khadim e Aala would be seen shifting back to Jaati Umra. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi declared that attempts to approve RGST would face opposition from his party and the N League’s duping of people would not be allowed.
Donkey pump inauguration: Elahi claimed that the lack of mega-projects on part of the current Punjab government was so dire that the incumbent Punjab chief minister was inaugurating a donkey pump in Gujranwala a few days ago. Elahi punned that the “Donkey Pump” chief minister has failed the poor over the last 3 years.
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi informed party MPAs that the RGST was a money bill and PML-Q would oppose the bill. He warned PML-Q legislators not to legislate in favour of the bill unless they wanted to be liable for assembly disqualification under the constitution.
Elahi urged the the incumbent Punjab government to revoke its hypocritical policies and be amenable to the poor on the RGST matter. During the meeting PML-Q Punjab’s provincial legislators expressed confidence in the leadership of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi.
Wikileaks: Several Punjab Assembly opposition members expressed their pride at the fact that contrary to the startling revelations in the WikiLeaks about others global organizations only had praise for the political acumen and magnificent performance in the government of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi.
