LAHORE: Pakistan’s national Under18 ladies champion Ushna Suhail has reached the doubles semi-final of the East Africa ITF International tennis tournament being played in Rawanda. Ushna is the only Pakistani girl playing in the ITF Junior tournament. She reached the doubles semi-final partnering with Nikita Dawada of Kenya.
In the doubles quarterfinal, the pair defeated Ama Opariison of Nigeria and Lara Syori of Burundi in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-0.
In the first set the Pak-Kenyan pair was leading 4-1 when their opponents displayed good quality game to make it 4-2. However Ushna and Nikita showed excellent coordination and netted the game to take the set 6-2. In the second set their opponents faced aggressive tennis with excellent serves and could not take a single game.
Ushna and Nikita wrapped up the set and the match 6-2, 6-0. They will now face Yasim Ebada of Egypt and Ana Goetz of Austria in the semifinals.
