Natural resources have great importance for a countrys economy. They could be used for employment, economic growth, development of infrastructure, poverty alleviation, provision of education facilities and other civil amenities. They can be considered the backbone of a countrys sustained growth.
But, we as a nation and as a state, are oblivious to this fact. Just take the example of Reko Diq mines where a huge amount of gold and copper has been discovered. This mine alone has the potential to rehabilitate the ailing economy of Pakistan. Due to the myopic approach of our political leaders and bureaucracy, this valuable natural resource is being treated as if it is the personal property of these public representatives and public servants. This calls for an inquiry into the whole situation and those responsible should be meted out justices in the same manner as they are treating this issue with.
