Police clueless about robbery at Khawaja Asif’s house

LAHORE: Defence Police have not been able to trace the robbers involved in stealing valuables worth Rs 2.5 million from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Khawaja Asif’s house in Defence Housing Authority (B) Police Station precincts, Pakistan Today has learnt.
Police have registered a case on the complaint of Asif’s son Khawaja Asad. According to the first information report (FIR) registered with the Defense B Police, Khawaja Asad, a resident of 270-R Block DHA, informed police that on November 26, his mother informed him that a robbery had taken place at their house.
“According to my mother, unidentified criminals managed to escape safely after stealing valuables including two bracelets of white gold containing diamonds, two rings of white gold containing diamonds, four gold rings containing diamonds, two ear rings containing diamond, two lockets of gold containing diamonds, three diamond rings, two gold ear rings containing turquoise, 3,800 pound sterling, 19,000 dirham, 2,300 dollars, 3,500 euros and Rs 15,000”, Asad said in the FIR. Police have started investigating the matter.
But until filing of this report, Police have not been able to arrest the criminals involved in the crime. Despite making serious efforts to arrest the criminals, Cantonment Superintendent of Police (SP) Captain (r) Jawad Qamar said that no such incident took place.
Talking to Pakistan Today on telephone, the SP said that no such incident took place in his area but only a few rings have gone missing from Asif’s house. He claimed that the rings were stolen by the PML-N MNA’s servants. Talking to Pakistan Today, Asad also denied that any such incident took place at their house.
Talking to journalists at the police station, Investigation Officer Zahoor Ahmed said that police have started investigating the matter since the case was registered by the operations wing on November 27.
He said that police have collected all circumstantial evidences including fingerprints from Asif’s house and the fingerprints have been sent to Islamabad for identification. The police official said that police were hopeful to arrest the criminals as early as possible.
