Gymkhana win Inter-Club golf tournament

LAHORE: After a battle of nerves and golfing skills, the twenty-member Gymkhana golf team prevailed over the Royal Palm golf team, yesterday at the Gymkhana Golf Course, through an aggregate team score of 27 points to Royal Palm’s 25, the winning margin not too imposing yet ample to fetch them the glittering trophy accompanied by the related honours.
The clash between the two teams has started to generate tremendous interest on both sides and members consider it an accomplishment to be able to attain selection for their respective sides and render performances that have a winning tilt, although sometimes the fright of competition plays hide and seek with contestants’ abilities leaving them at the receiving end.
In this contest the outstanding ones for Gymkhana in the four ball event were the combinations of Faisal Feroze/Nadeem Hassan Asif, Amir Mehmood/Tariq Misbah, Khurshid Aziz/Karamatullah Chaudry, Mohsin Anwar/Shakeel Ahmed, Ali Anwar Khan/Mir Farook Mehmood, Sameer Iftikhar/Dr. Haider Malli while AVM Zakaullah Khan/Dr. Zafar Nasrullah levelled their match.
Those who stood out for Royal Palm were Lt. Gen Muhammed Tariq/Col. Jamil Khalid, Shahid Iqbal/Imtiaz Pervaiz, Tariq Mushtaq/Haroon Arshed, Sohail Rana/Hussain Hamid, Omer Salamat/Nasir Mehmood, Zarik Jamil/Faisal Syed and the combination of Imran Mian and Naseer Akhter had to be content with an all square match.
In the four ball contest both teams ended up level with 13 points each. It was in the individual competition that Gymkhana aggregated 14 points to Royal Palms 12.
At the end of the event the teams were introduced to Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman, Chairman, Lahore Gymkhana and Ramzan Sheikh, CEO, Royal Palm.
