KARACHI: Death toll rose to 11, including eight crew members, as a Russian-made cargo plane crashed in the Naval area near Dalmian in Karachi soon after taking off from airport in the wee hours of Sunday, officials said.
Senior officials of the Civil Aviation Authorities (CAA), Pakistan Navy and other law enforcement agencies visited the scene while investigation into the incident would take a few days, Pakistan Today learnt.
Sindh Health Minister Sagheer Ahmed has sent the bodies of three people, who were killed in a plane crash to Jalalpur, Multan district from the Karachi Civil Hospital.
The bodies were identified as Khuda Bakhsh, Aijaz and Shahid. Sources revealed that it could take 12 to 15 days to identify other bodies. The health minister said the possibility that it could be a terrorists’ plot could not be ruled out, adding that the issue would also be raised to authorities concerned.
He said nine bodies have been recovered from the site, while strewn body parts of one were also found. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
