Dr Samar replaces Lashari as Old Ravian Union’s president

LAHORE: Government College University Lahore alumni on Sunday elected the new Executive Committee of the Old Ravians Union for session 2010-2012. The union’s election festivity brought a large number of Old Ravians from all over the country to their alma mater where polling was held from 11am to 5pm. Nuclear scientist Dr Samar Mubarakmand has been already elected as the new president of the union unopposed, while Mansoor Feroze Khan and Amanat Ali Ghalib contested hard for the vice president’s seat which eventually Feroze won by 125 votes.
Mrs Talat Altaf Khan was elected as vice president (women), while Mian Muhammad Ahmad Chhachhar and Javaid Qasim Warriach were elected as secretary general and treasurer respectively. Ghulam Murtaza Paracha, Prof Ahmed Hussain, Taha Sadaqat, Saeed Ahmed Buksh, Kazi Afaq Hussain, Zoriaz Lashari, Shamimur Rehman Malik and Dr Salman Haider were elected as the executive members of the union. The union’s outgoing president Kamran Lashari chaired the annual general body meeting of the union which approved the union’s accounts for the year 2008-10.
The general body passed a resolution to appreciate the services of Kamran Lashari to make the union a financially strong and dynamic organization. The meeting also proposed a couple of amendments in the union’s constitution. However, it was decided that these amendments would be discussed and shaped up in the next meeting and would be presented before the general body for approval. The oath taking ceremony of the new executive committee of the union would be held next month.
