KARACHI: The federal government has summoned the financial experts from the four provinces to finalise the Reformed General Sales Tax (GST) bill, Pakistan Today learnt on Sunday.
According to sources in the Sindh government’s Finance Department, the main objective of the two-day meeting, from November 29 to 30, is to discuss in detail the reformed GST bill, which would be presented in the provincial assemblies after its passage from the National Assembly. The sources said the Sindh government temporarily surrendered its rights over the collection of GST on services and the equal distribution of funds under the seventh National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.
They said the two-day meeting would be presided over by the finance secretary while the team from Sindh would be headed by Adviser to Chief Minister on Planning and Development Kaiser Bengali. The sources said a draft bill of the reformed GST for Sindh would be discussed in detail and the other three provinces would be instructed to work out their respective bills on Sindh’s pattern, they added.
The sources said the federal government was trying that all four province should have the same reformed GST law.
