3 electrocuted installing tent

LAHORE: Three labourers were electrocuted while installing a wedding tent in Kahna Police Station precincts on Sunday. The families of the deceased stopped police from taking any action and took the bodies to their hometowns for burial.
The victims were identified as Arshad Amanat, Asghar Abdul Haq and Waris Nazeer, residents of Khudian, Kasur, Burewala and Ludhar village respectively. According to details, the victims were working at Square Caterers and on Sunday, the deceased went to install tents for the wedding ceremony of two girls, residents of Roda Bhogna village located in Kahna Police Station precincts.
According to police, the victims were installing an iron pillar to set the base for installation of tents when accidentally the pillar touched electric wires. As a result, the deceased who were holding the pillar sustained severe electric shocks. Father and uncle of the two girls Abdul Hameed and Ameen along with other men tried to save the labourers but they died instantly owing to serious burn injuries. Hameed informed the Square Caterers management, which along with relatives of the deceased immediately reached the spot.
Local residents informed Kahna Police whose officials also rushed to the spot. Kahna Police Station House Officer Malik Nisar said that the deaths occurred due to an incident and families of the deceased also agreed in this regard. He said that the bodies have been handed over to the heirs of deceased after completing legal formalities.
