US, Pakistan deny reports of US troops presence in Quetta

ISLAMABAD: The United States and Pakistan on Saturday denied news reports regarding the presence of US Office of the Defense Representative in Pakistan (ODRP) in Quetta.
“Recent news articles have reported the approval of a “presence” by the Office of the Defense Representative in Pakistan of forces at the Pakistan military’s 12 Corps Headquarters in Quetta.
This reporting is a misrepresentation,” a US embassy spokesman said in statement. “There is no permanent US presence in Quetta. Episodic visits by a US team provides information and coordination between the International Security and Assistance Force (ISAF)
and Pakistan military forces when the ISAF operates periodically near the border with Pakistan,” the spokesman said. In a separate statement, an ISPR statement denied the report appearing in a section of the press about presence by the US ODRP in Quetta.
It said that the news report was not correct.
