4 TTP men arrested

KARACHI: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested four alleged Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) members believed to be involved in the CID office blast, and recovered a huge cache of weapons from their possession in Sohrab Goth on Saturday.
Sources told Pakistan Today that a CID team, headed by SP Chaudhry Aslam, received a tip off about six TTP men being present at a place in Gharo and raided it. However, the militants managed to flee. Later, the team conducted a raid five kilometres away from Sohrab Goth on the Super Highway and arrested four suspects, while they were trying to reach Sohrab Goth in a car.
“Early on Friday, four men came to a small hotel located off the Super Highway in a white car,” witnesses told Pakistan Today. “When they returned, their car was surrounded by three vehicles. More than 12 plainclothesmen arrested them. Four of them held the suspects while the fifth injected them with some medicine. Then they pushed them into their vehicle and fled.”
According to sources, preliminary interrogation revealed that the arrested militants were affiliated with the TTP and had planned the attack on the CID office. They were also planning to ignite sectarian violence before the month of Muharram by targeting important Shia community members.
