ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team probing the Benazir Buhtto murder case has included former president Pervez Musharraf in the investigation and sent him a 32-point questionnaire on several key issues.
Referring to a letter written to Musharraf by Benazir Bhutto in which she informed him about threats to her life, the investigation team has asked the former military ruler why foolproof security was not provided by his regime to Benazir even after the Taliban and Al Qaeda threatened her.
The team has asked Musharraf who ordered the immediate washing of the crime scene and why an emergency press conference was conducted soon after the incident.
The team has also asked Musharraf why the level of security provided to Bhutto for her election rally in Rawalpindi was not the same as that for former premier Shujaat Hussain and then prime minister Shaukat Aziz. The sources said it was decided that former Rawalpindi CPO Saud Aziz and SP Khurram Shehzad would be summoned in court.
FIA DG Waseem Ahmad said FIA had not yet sent the questionnaire to Musharraf, adding that draft of the questioner had been sent to the interior minister for approval. Musharraf’s spokesman Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif said the former president Musharraf and his legal team would decide on replying to the questionnaire when they received it.
