LAHORE: The distribution of Watan Cards amongst flood affectees of Punjab has been nearly completed and 95 percent calamity-stricken people have received assistance by this transparent process, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Sunday.
He made these remarks while chairing a meeting regarding construction of model villages in the flood-hit areas, distribution of Watan Cards and provision of free fertilizers, seeds, quilts, blankets and warm clothes to the flood victims at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
The CM said that provision of free fertilizers and seeds to farmers of flood-hit areas would also be completed by November 30. He directed officials to accelerate the distribution of quilts, blankets and warm clothes amongst the affectees and said that philanthropists and affluent persons should play an active role in this noble cause.
Shahbaz commended the role of elected representatives and bureaucrats for making excellent arrangements and adopting a transparent mechanism for distribution of Watan Cards amongst the flood affectees. He said that provision of Watan Cards to every affectee has been ensured.
