LAHORE: Muslim League (N) MNA and renowned industrialist Muhammad Pervez Malik has condemned the proposal of reformed General Sales Tax (GST) and two percent increase in the electricity tariff and said that the government has acted as a deaf ear to strong protests by the Chambers of Commerce & Industry and other industrial associations across the country.
He maintained that PML-N strongly supports demands of the business community on these issues.
Pervez Malik said that while following the dictation of IMF, imposition of reformed GST two percent increase in the electricity tariff would not only be a big blow to the industry but would also further increase prices of essential commodities.
He said that groundless and brutal policies of the present regime are pushing the country towards complete destruction. It would further exacerbate the despair of business community which was already facing multiple crises like energy deficit, bloodcurdling law and order situation and high input cost etc.
He said that the PPP government had never tried to consult other political parties or stakeholders. Imposition of reformed GST and an increase in power tariff would decrease purchasing power of the common man and would ultimately dampen industrial activities, he added.
