LAHORE: Lahore School of Economics (LSE) held its annual Sports Gala from 10th to 15th November, 2010. Among the participants were Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and University College Lahore (UCL).
Both male and female students took part in a number of sports including basketball, football, cricket and volleyball. LUMS managed to take home the runner-up trophy even though they could not take part in the volleyball championship.
LUMS attained the gold in both boy’s and girl’s football, girl’s basketball and silver in boy’s cricket. Ashti Nisar shone above the rest in girl’s football, while Sarmad Rehman, Usman Hamid and Aziz took their side to victory at the boy’s end.
Their teammate, Taimoor Butt showed exceptional ball control, getting the Best Player award. In girl’s basketball, Eilya Mohsin and Sania Imran’s partnership dominated the last two quarters of the match, dribbling their way to the gold.
Missing out barely on the gold, due to a controversy regarding run rates, the trio of Hassan Butt, Ammar Yaseen and Bilal Afzal still showed outstanding skills on the cricket field.
In spite of getting the silver, they won the hearts of the crowd and received a standing ovation.
