LHC reserves judgment on Ajmal Kansi’s extradition case

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Monday reserved judgment on a petition seeking the registration of a case against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for handing over Mir Aimal Kansi to American, where he was executed.
The petition was filed by Pir Ally Immrawn Saher Essraphel through Barrister Iqbal Jafree.
The petition stated that Aimal Kansi had nothing to do with the murder of the two CIA employees in 1993; the government however extradited him on the mere allegation of his involvement in the crime. The petition added that in 1998, Nawaz Sharif received a phone call from the US foreign minister which led to the extradition of Kansi.
Jaffery stated that the conviction and execution of Kansi were acts of brutality. “A case should be lodged against Nawaz Sharif and he should be ordered to pay 78,60,000 pounds for the illegally extradition of Kansi. Kansi should be declared a national hero and his body should be excavated from his grave so that he can be given a state burial.
The government should also issue an official apology for his illegal extradition”. The council stated that a modern art museum, a free hospital and a university of human rights should be constructed and run in Quetta from the damages paid by Nawaz Sharif.
