Seven militants killed in Swat

MINGORA/WANA: At least seven militants were killed and a soldier of the security forces was injured in clashes in scattered areas of Swat’s Matta tehsil on Sunday.
The clashes between the security forces and militants started late on Saturday and continued until Sunday noon in Shughdara, Arkot and Rorengar villages. The militants killed in the clashes were identified as Ghafoor Khan, Naseebullah, Muhammad Ali, Ibrahim, Inayatullah, Jamal and Azeem.
Officials said they had recovered a large cache of arms from the militants.
The security forces also unearthed a tunnel in use by militants at Koza Bandai area of Kabal. They said a huge quantity of bombs and other explosive was also recovered.
Meanwhile in South Waziristan, a member of the tribal peace militia was killed and another 10 were injured in a suicide attack at Shakai town on Sunday.
According to details, tribesmen opened fire at a suicide bomber while he was attempt to enter the town’s vegetable market. As a result, the explosive-packed jacket worn by the bomber went off, killing Hameed Khan and injuring 10 others.
