After starring in a string of comedies and other light-hearted outings, professional wrestler-turned-Hollywood actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is back at what he is known for – action, in upcoming thriller ‘Faster’.
Last seen in a full-fledged action avatar in 2002s ‘The Scorpion King’, the 38-year-old will be seen as a vendetta seeking individual who has come out of prison after a decade.
‘Faster’ releases simultaneously in India and the US Nov 26 in English, Hindi and Tamil, according to a statement by Sony Pictures Entertainment, the producers and distributors of the movie.
Directed by George Tillman, Jr., the movie also stars Billy Bob Thornton, Carla Gugino, Moon Bloodgood, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Maggie Grace. The movie will portray Johnson as Driver who has a singular focus after coming out of imprisonment after a decade – to avenge the murder of his brother during the botched bank robbery that led to his jail term.
Now a free man with a deadly to-do list in hand, he’s on his mission but with two men on his trail – a veteran cop (Thornton) just days from retirement and a young egocentric hitman (Jackson-Cohen) with a flair for the art of killing and a newfound worthy opponent.
As the mystery surrounding his brother’s murder deepens, new details emerge along the way hinting that Driver’s list may be incomplete.
