PPP to start public campaign for LG polls: Faiza Malik

LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would soon start a public campaign for preparing for the local government (LG) elections and strengthening the party in the city, PPP Lahore Women Wing President Faiza Malik said on Saturday in a press release.
She said that the federal government would complete its constitutional tenure, as it had assumed power with the support of the masses instead of any state institution.
The PPP leader said that consistency in democracy was necessary for the federation’s unity adding that the people who had compromised with a military dictator and went into exile abroad wanted to break the federation.
Faiza, who is also a parliamentary secretary in the Punjab Assembly, said that country had been put on the path to progress and prosperity under the able leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari.
She said that no other agreement was required in the presence of the Charter of Democracy (CoD), which was signed between the PPP and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Faiza said that the PPP was fulfilling all promises made with the people adding the solving problems such as poverty, price hike and unemployment were the top priorities of the federal government so that relief could be provided to the poor segments of society.
The PPP leader said that only those nations could progress which took hard decisions and the PPP was taking hard decisions to ensure a better future for the people of Pakistan.
