People without CNICs barred from entering capital’s Red Zone

ISLAMABAD: In the wake of recent terrorist attacks across the country, the Interior Ministry on Saturday banned the entry of people not having CNICs into the capital’s Red Zone.
The decision was made in a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Rehman Malik. The federalminister directed the Islamabad inspector general of police and the chief commissioner to enhancing security across the federal capital.
He also directed the IG to maintain record of all students of religious seminaries and their guests, adding that all vehicles entering the city should be thoroughly checked.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad Police rounded up more than 80 suspected people in various search operations, conducted in the suburbs of the city, including Koral Town, PWD colony and CBR colony. A spokesman said that in order to thwart any terrorist attack, officials of the Quick Response Unit (QRU) had also been deployed at seven different points.
