R&B singer Faith Evans is bouncing back from her summer legal troubles with a big screen biopic about ‘The Supremes’ founder Florence Ballard. The ‘Love Like This’ hitmaker has been cast as the lead in ‘Blondie: The Florence Ballard Story’, which is due for release in 2011.
The movie will tell the story of the singer widely nicknamed ‘the lost Supreme’, who sang alongside Diana Ross and Mary Wilson in the original group line-up in 1959. She reportedly quit the band in 1967 when record label executives changed the group name to Diana Ross & The Supremes and embarked on her own solo career.
Ballard died in 1976. Evans, who starred in Beyonce Knowles’ 2003 comedy drama ‘The Fighting Temptations’, is working on getting her life back on track after she was arrested in August and charged with two counts of driving under the influence.
She faces six months in jail if convicted.
