Pakistanis must follow Iqbal’s teachings: Shujaat

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League organised a ceremony to pay homage to Allama Muhammad Iqbal on his 133 birth anniversary. Addressing the function at the PML House, PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said, “We have to forget all differences for the sovereignty, solidarity of the country and to materialise the dreams of Iqbal.
He said that taking the country out of chaos was not possible for one party and all political forces should join their brains to evolve a strategy that could steer the nation towards prosperity and Iqbal’s teachings would be helpful to square this task. Shujaat said his party would not be a part of an alliance, if it only meant to grab power.
PML Member National Assembly Marvi Memon said Iqbal was not only a philosopher but his vision helped the Muslims of subcontinent to win a separate land for them, though it was unfortunate that today few Pakistanis were tarnishing the image of Pakistan.
In another function on Iqbal Day at a local hotel in Islamabad, PML-Nawaz leader Raja Zafarul Haq said that most of Iqbal’s poetry was the interpretation of Quran, besides stressing the importance of freedom and national independence, but now the nation had forgot his teachings. He said Iqbal’s poetry was not only for Muslims rather it had a universal message and he was a teacher of mankind.
PML-N Senator Zafar Ali Shah said it was pity that Pakistan voted for India for its temporary membership in Security Council and supporting India in such manner was against the vision of Allama Iqbal. “If India becomes a permanent member of the UN Security Council, nobody could stop a nuclear war in sub-continent”, he added.
Elahi dubs Charter of Democracy as a joke: Charter of Pakistan and Charter of Democracy are jokes and have nothing to do with the problems of the masses, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) group’s central leader Pervaiz Elahi said while addressing a workers’ convention in Sialkot.
The present ‘stay order’ government needed to stop fooling people who were victims of anarchy and unemployment, he said, adding that Shahbaz Sharif had used Rs 200 billion of debt money to launch fake schemes like ‘sasti rooti’ and ‘sasty bazaar’ while Elahi had constructed colleges, roads and hospitals. “They will never be able to defeat us,” he said.
