ISLAMABAD: US President Barrack Obama’s visit to India had a positive vibe about it and gave a message of peace to all the parties concerned, former ambassador BA Malik said on Tuesday.
Obama recommended that a stronger role for India in regional and world politics but did not forget to remind the Indian government to resolve all issues with Pakistan through peaceful dialogues, subconsciously admitting that the outcome of the Kashmir issue would determine the course of affairs in times to come, he added.
India had received a warning to find peaceful solution to the problem in order to qualify for a greater share in world politics, Malik said, adding that this visit was also a reminder to the terrorists that they would be defeated at all costs.
Obama admitted the crucial role of Pakistan in Afghanistan’s stability and had placed development and dialogue over unilateral use of force, he said, adding that his three-point agenda of promoting prosperity, security and democracy were in the best interest of the region and the world and Pakistan and India could only progress economically if they resolved their internal issues.
Malik said Obama had won lucrative contracts worth billions of dollars to serve the national interest of the US which would generate thousands of jobs for his countrymen. The hearts of Muslims all over the world had been won by Obama’s respectful salute to the religion of Islam as the ‘greatest religion on earth,’ Malik said.
By all standards Obama proved himself as an extraordinary world leader he said, adding that Obama’s state of the art diplomatic skills do not absolve the people of Pakistan from their responsibility of setting the country straight and fulfilling the ideals of the founding fathers.
He said that in the light of above observations, any emotional critique of Obama’s visit to India was not in national interest as it had raised new hopes for a prosperous South Asia and he deserved credit for it.
