SINGAPORE: Three-time Major champion Padraig Harrington is looking to continue his return to form at this week’s Barclays Singapore Open after ending his two-year title drought in Malaysia last month.
After a practice round in Singapore the Ryder Cup star fancies his chances when the six-million-US-dollar tournament starts Thursday at Sentosa Golf Club.
“I won well three to four weeks ago… in Malaysia, so the form is good,” the 39-year-old Irishman said Tuesday. “Looking forward to this week and working on the sensible things like my routine and the mental side of the game. And if I hold the putts I’ll be competing on Sunday.”
The 2010 Singapore Open features a competitive field including three of this year’s Major winners – US Masters champion Phil Mickelson, US Open champion Graeme McDowell and US PGA titleholder Martin Kaymer.
“I’m looking to win. If you don’t win, there’s other things but on a Thursday morning I’m teeing up hoping to win,” said Harrington, who has two British Open and one US PGA Major under his belt.
The winner of the Barclays Singapore Open will take home a million dollars.
