ISLAMABAD: Former Azad Jammu Kashmir prime minister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has urged US President Barack Obama not to support India in its bid for permanent membership of the UN Security Council unless the dispute of Kashmir was resolved.
“India has not a moral justification to become a permanent member of UNSC as its leaders are not ready to implement resolutions passed by the UNSC 60 years ago, on Kashmir issue,” he said while addressing a press conference here on Tuesday.
He said the US claimed to be a champion of human rights but now it was ignoring human rights’ violations in occupied Kashmir only for economic gains. The ties between India and Pakistan could not be improved unless the issue of Kashmir was not resolved, he added.
