Low-intensity blast damages Nawab Town chowki wall

LAHORE: A low intensity bomb exploded along the wall of Chowki Nawab Town on Raiwind Road in the Sattukatla Police precincts late on Sunday night. Unknown suspects are speculated to have planted a low intensity bomb along the wall of Chowki Nawab Town which went off at about 8:30 pm with a loud sound. No casualties were suffered due to the explosion.
The explosion damaged the wall of the police chowki, located about half kilometer inside from the Main Raiwind Road. Locals immediately informed police and rescue officials, who reached the scene along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).
BDS officials searched the police chowki’s surroundings but found nothing. BDS official Allah Yaar speaking to Pakistan Today saidthe explosion was a result of a low intensity time bomb of about half kilogram. Abdullah, a local who witness the explosion said that he was standing at a safe distance from Chowki Nawab Town when he heard a blast followed by heavy smoke and dust which engulfed the police chowki.
Sub Inspector Ramzan, inside the chowki when the blast occurred, talking to media said that he was trying to sleep when the bomb went off. He said explosion damaged the chowki’s window pans and felt like he was going to fall from the bed.A heavy police contingent reached the scene under SP Saddar Division Zeeshan Asghar’s supervision.
SP Zeeshan talking to media said that the Saddar Division police will launch a massive search operation in order to identify those involved in the blast.
