Imran Farooq’s body arriving today

KARACHI: As the body of slain MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq arrives in Karachi today (Friday), security agencies have expressed grave concern over the issuance of 275 special passes by the airport authorities to MQM activists to receive the coffin at Jinnah International Airport.
Pakistan Today has reliably learnt that flight No PK788 is to arrive at the airport at 9:35 am today, and airport authorities have issued 25 passes to the MQM leaders and workers for collecting the body.
They said the plane would dock at terminal No 1 and another 250 passes have been issued to the MQM for gathering party workers at the terminal. All entry and exit points of the airport would remain closed before the plane lands and law enforcement agencies, including the Airport Security Force, police and Rangers would secure the airport.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said terrorists could disturb law and order situation on during the funeral procession of Dr Imran Farooq, saying the government had made strict security arrangements to secure the funeral ceremony.
The minister said the leadership of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was the main target of the terrorist, adding that intelligence reports had revealed that terrorists would attempt to sabotage the procession.
