Sharifs will be forgiven if they come to me: Shujaat

ISLAMABAD: PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Wednesday said if the Sharif brothers came to him, he would “forgive” them.
Top leaders of the PML-N and the PML-Q have tacitly expressed their willingness to ‘burry the hatchet’ but their egos stop them as both sides expect the other to take the initiative.
Commenting on Rana Sanaullah’s statement, Shujaat said, “We don’t need to go to Raiwind… but if they come to us, we will surely forgive them.”
Talking to reporters at the Parliament House, he said despite the fact that the government had failed, his party would not support mid-term elections. “The government should be allowed to complete its tenure.”
Earlier, PML-N leader Ishaq Dar met Shujaat in the chamber of Wasim Sajjad to discuss nominations for the parliamentary committee for the appointment of judges.
According to Article 175A, the leader of opposition in the Senate had to nominate two members from the opposition benches. Sajjad had nominated himself and his party’s president neglecting the PML-N, the JI and other opposition parties.
A source in the PML-N said Senator Ishaq Dar took up the matter with the PML-Q president, saying that it was unfair to nominate both members from one party. “In response to Dar’s complaint, Shujaat said the opposition leader in the Senate was ready to nominate one member from the PML-N if the opposition leader in the National Assembly for the committee,” the source said.
Insiders said these contacts between the two estranged parties was the first step towards developing a working relationship to pave the way for future understanding on major issues. Similarly, the PPP also continued its contact with the PML-Q in the light of Law Minister Babar Awan’s meeting with the Chaudhrys in Lahore.
