Harassment reports lead to removal of male teachers

KARACHI: After receiving numerous sexual harassment complaints, the Sindh government has decided to remove all male teaching and non-teaching staff from girls’ schools and colleges in the province.
Education Department directed all executive district officers (EDOs) to enlist all the male staff working in the province. The male officials were also asked to report to the Sindh secretariat till further notice.
“There have been many complaints against the male staff members and we support their removal, ” Iftikhar Ahmed, the president of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA), told Pakistan Today.
Male teachers were posted at girls’ schools and colleges due to shortage of female teachers. Total number of female students in the province is 110, 792.
