LAHORE: It could be months before the police is able to trace and arrest the terrorists involved in the Data Darbar and Karbala Gamay Shah incidents, CCPO Aslam Tareen said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference at Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh, Tareen admitted that investigations into the attacks were showing little progress, but promised that the people involved in the incidents would be arrested soon. Responding to a query about police officers who avoid registering robbery cases, the CCPO claimed the police has a strong system of monitoring and police officials who shirk on their responsibility end up facing misconduct cases.
Answering a question on the public availability of police uniforms, the CCPO said police have already written to the Punjab government to allow the sale of police uniforms from authorized dealers only.
Senior Superintendent of Police Lahore (Investigations) Zulfiqar Hameed answering a query on the kidnapping case of Amir Malik, son in law of General Tariq Majeed, refused to comment.
He said police avoid making public the investigations in cases of kidnapping for ransom to keep the inquiry low profile.
